Hello,

from when can you safely hang pictures in a newly built (solid) house? I once heard that especially on the exterior walls you should wait two years. Is that true?
Our hygrometers usually show the air as too dry. That's why I have already placed some plants.
Is it sensible to get a moisture meter? They are available for 20€, but do they provide reliable values?

Regards and have a nice weekend!

So I nailed pictures directly to the wall at our move-in and they are still standing straight. Why? Because of moisture behind it? Or for some static reasons? You are also installing your kitchen and not waiting 2 years with wall cabinets.

I first wondered if there might be something to that. But yes, kitchen cabinet. Deal breaker.

Yes, because of residual moisture. Kitchen cabinets also should not be placed completely against the wall so that air can circulate there. At least that's what I've heard. I don't know if that's true, that's why I'm asking.

Whenever I give my two cents on such matters, I say I'm not an expert. But I find it logical that air must circulate behind the cabinets. On the other hand, I've never heard that you have to pay attention to circulation at the beginning and then hang the cabinets closer to the wall after a few years.

Just think about how many people get custom-built wardrobes for some niches in hallways or similar. The carpenter never comes every few days to take them apart into individual pieces so that air can get in. That is nonsense...
