Framing terrace, driveway, splash guard without curbstones

If it rains very heavily, you have large ponds that then stand by the house.

That was already the case during the recent storms... But so far, there is no topsoil and humus on it...

What exactly does the curb generally have to do with flood protection?
Here it is common practice to set curbs, e.g., for the eaves edge and to pave the path directly on or even 1-2 cm above the curb.
The trick is not whether a curb is set, but how?

For everything that is not an eaves edge... why not without. Even if I would never do it that way myself.

As my predecessor already said. 5 cm curb is better than nothing when the heavy rain comes...
