According to the soil investigation report, we have the choice between two foundation options.

Option 1: Slab foundation with a 25 cm thick base plate, foundation cushion beneath the plate with a height of 80 cm. A cushion drainage can be omitted.

Option 2: Base plate with strip foundations with a 16 cm thick slab. Drainage is not required.

Which of the two options would you choose? We are completely at a loss :-(

Thank you very much in advance.

I believe that with option 1 it is easier to install insulation under the slab, if that is desired. For our build, the second option was chosen. Why? Because the structural engineer specified it that way...

Ask about the prices for the variants. I suspect No. 1 will be significantly more expensive - but depending on the floor, it actually seems to be the better solution.

Hello Dali,

We basically only work with the first option; in case that helps you.

I don’t really understand the question. You bought a part of a house including the base plate, want to build a single-family house and need to externally purchase the work for the base plate, or are you awarding the individual trades through an architect’s tender? Do you have professional guidance? Following that, the further question is, which services regarding the base plate have already been contractually purchased? With the above choice, you must not forget that option "2" is significantly cheaper, so there is a monetary difference compared to option "1".

Rhenish greetings
