So guys, yesterday my old loan was paid off. Now 15 years of stress-free repayment with 6% amortization. No more need for special repayments.

A gain for sure, the interest rates should be significantly lower, right? With us, it was "only" 1.1% less but also only because the follow-up financing came after 5 years and we still had 6 months forward. I found it super stressful, all the forms and contracts, a 5 cm thick stack, the new credit guidelines... But it was worth it and now there are 10 years of peace again (well, still 8). Time in the house somehow goes by faster. Or you just get old

Approximately 1.7 less which we converted 1:1 into repayment. Installment slightly adjusted to make it full repayment.

My sister definitely wins.. for the follow-up financing she was offered 0.98%. She financed at 5.04% for 15 years in 2008. The special termination right now allows her to refinance after 10 years. With the same rate, she switched from 2% repayment to fully amortizing. She would also be finished after 9 years and a few months without special repayments.

I still remember that the bank advisor told her in 2008 "do it for 15 years, it will never be cheaper again"....

And then Lehman came..... but you have to say it was market-appropriate at the time. The advantage is that you get used to the installments
