Of course it has something to do with it, because if you have too much or too little, the debris gets stuck – and that gradually gets worse. And of course every pipe must be ventilated (i.e. the 100mm wastewater branches – you should know that if you're doing all this yourself).

We have a normal round drain and no channel. In the drain, there is a hair strainer in the siphon and an additional insert that can be removed. This is cleaned regularly. When the insert is removed, you can also reach slightly under the edge over which the water flows out of the siphon. This area is occasionally flushed through with the shower hose (without shower head).

Hello,

If MeinerEiner - who is not only a businessman but also a paramedic - were to read this, he would be tearing his hair out. "Never ever use drain cleaner! It does more harm than good" .... is what I heard in the first days of our life together. Especially as a 17-year-old - with mother's advice in my ear - you like to hear that

That's better!

Rhenish greetings

TE probably means the slope of the screed...

But just as a side note:
I’m also unsure: I grew up with "never use a drain cleaner." Then in the 90s there was Pango – does anyone still know that? Clearing the pipe by pressure...
Recently I read again that you should chemically clean every 3 months so that the soap residues, which connect with hair, don’t permanently harden into a lump.

So what now? In the new house I’m also a bit panicky with long hair, collect it and throw it in the trash. But you can’t catch them all!

Hello Yvonne,

I vaguely remember.

Any chemicals attack the pipes; so stay away from them.

"Manual operation" is not wrong to start with.

I’ll write down how I do it. I actually use the good old plunger only once per quarter (rubber with wooden handle); block some water in the basin/shower tray/bathtub and pump vigorously. That’s it.

Some people also prevent clogs using coffee grounds; whether this belongs in the realm of tasseography, I cannot rule out with certainty.

Best regards from the Rhineland
