Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding our single-family house and hope there are experts who can give me advice.

We are planning a ceiling heating.
Reasons:
- Cooling possible
- Ceiling is going to be suspended anyway.
- Avoidance of screed (more ecological and no drying time)
- More flexible choice of flooring.

Is it possible/sensible to attach a cross battens directly on the basement ceiling (concrete) and directly screw a plank floor onto it?
Insulation made of wood fiber could then be directly inserted into the battens?!
Do the battens have to be screwed to the concrete floor? Or do you only screw the second layer of battens onto the first?

With a floorboarding, you can do it like this. There are several methods for how the battens are executed.

Hello,

You do realize that you cannot expect any impact sound insulation then? In other words, you will hear every step throughout the entire house as if it were a shell construction!

The purpose of the floating screed is the acoustic decoupling of the rooms; the thing with the possible underfloor heating is just a nice-to-have. It's not without reason that houses have mostly been built with floating screed for 50 years...

And why should omitting the screed be more ecological?! Compared to the amount of concrete used in the foundation slab, basement, and ceilings, the little cement in the screed doesn't really matter anymore. House building is always a huge mess. In the end, it almost doesn't matter at all whether you build "Kfw 70" or "KFW 0.1 Evolution whatever." If you care about ecology, don't build! Or build yourself a log cabin by hand (but please without a concrete slab).

Best regards,

Andreas

He wants to do a floorboarding... you decouple the lathing there. There are no soundproofing problems.

What about thermal insulation? The concrete ceiling of the basement will quite a bit absorb the heat and draw it into the basement. If you have problems with the drying time, there is also quick-drying screed. It is laid as panels under the floor.

For something like this, you would actually use a vapor barrier since a white tank only protects against water in its liquid state. A floorboard without a raised vapor barrier would probably get damaged over time.

A Katja foil or similar is also not that expensive and can easily be installed by yourself. However, I can't tell you how to do it with the cross battens without perforating the foil.
