Hello,

I want to make two shelves from the offcuts. These should then be "floating" mounted on the wall (Poroton). There are special mounting anchors for this, but among other things, they receive bad reviews. Actually, you could also use simple hanger bolts, right? Does anyone have experience with this and possibly tips for the mounting material?

PS: The board is oak, 40mm thick, 150mm deep.

The plate is simply slid onto the screws? No anchoring to prevent it from sliding forward?

I would try a construction with threaded rods. Concrete the threaded rods into the wall, elongated holes in the shelves, fasten / clamp with a washer and nut - either visible at the front edge of the shelf or accessible through a slot around the shelf. The number of threaded rods depends on the weight and load of the shelf. It is cheap but requires very precise work --> good tools, patience, a feel for the material, and some craftsmanship skills.

So a professional is already involved. Concealed shelf supports are as common as sand. Then have a carpenter give you some you feel good about. Although I just checked on Amazon and found only good reviews for all kinds of supports there. Please do not use threaded rods or similar rubbish. At the latest, when the boards are not level on the wall because you only got the rods 98% straight into the wall, you will kick yourself. And those things are not much cheaper either—just worse.

That is 100% true. Such a project only if you enjoy it and have a certain likelihood of being able to do it. Otherwise, it is not botched work, but a source of joy and satisfaction.

Okay, I first looked at the negative reviews. For shelf supports, it said that the board does not lie flush against the wall and "wobbles." And I didn't want to drill two anchor holes close together in my Poroton wall.

I will ask the carpenter to make me a proposal for this.
