Hello everyone,

maybe someone has a similar situation and can give some advice. I couldn’t really find anything on this or make much sense of the product descriptions...

We are planning a garage door and a connecting door in the garage to the house.

The garage door should be able to be opened from the outside with a fingerprint scanner. And the connecting door should then be able to be opened with another fingerprint scanner to get into the house.

How could something like this be realized? It would also be nice if it were a system where you can program time windows, like with [Ekey Multi].

I suspect [Ekey Multi] with 2 detection units and one multi-control unit would be possible. Or is it cheaper to use 2 separate systems?

Or is there another system you can recommend?
Regarding door and garage door manufacturers, we are not yet fixed.

Thanks for your help!

Hello anat79,

with Ekey you are exactly right. Why shouldn’t the front door be integrated as well? I would personally go for the server version even with 2-3 doors. Since you apparently come from the IT sector, there is surely a NAS running anyway on which you could set up a VM. The server version has many advantages. First, you get complete logs of accesses. Easier enrollment of fingers since it is possible with an external scanner. Real schedules can be created for individual persons and groups. If you don’t want this, go for the multi-system.

We basically have the same situation. However, with KNX. eKey Multi for front door, garage, and connecting door. But remember to use a motor lock for the connecting door as well...

Is the ekey connected to the KNX via a converter at your place? Or standalone?

It is being integrated into KNX. To be honest, I (still) don’t know exactly how, our SI is planning that.

Hello rick2018 and cybergnom, thank you for your information, then I am on the right track.

The server version is too much for us, we actually just want keyless entry and to be able to set a time window for the cleaning lady.

Originally, we wanted to equip the front door and the connecting door with fingerprint so that we can enter keylessly both on foot and by car. We canceled the motor lock and fingerprint at the front door for cost reasons. In the offers we have received so far, they wanted an extra 1600-1800€ for that. Therefore, our consideration was that it might be cheaper at the garage door because the motor is already there... But we do not have an offer yet.

Also, I think that we are now missing the wiring at the front door. We asked what we need and it was said that only a separate power cable is needed for the door. But you also need the connection between the detection unit and the control unit (which is in the technical room?), or am I confused there? Sorry for the maybe silly question...

cybergnom, may I ask what you pay for the Multi in this configuration and what kind of connecting door you have?

Thanks!
