Greetings, dear fellow campaigners,

my name is Jean-Marc, 35, living near Kassel, working as a personnel officer at a credit institution in Kassel. After now 5 years of futile searching for a suitable used property, countless viewings and just as many disappointments, my wife and I will also become homeowners next year. Professional commitments, limited craftsmanship skills, and a lack of private contacts in the "handyman scene" had so far kept us from it. :-( But since the real estate market here in the former border area is a complete disaster, we are forced to now come to terms with the subject. Conversations with the financing advisor and house providers have taken place, and the plot of land is to be purchased next year... so far just a single field, and the neighbors are still protesting against what is to come - and hopefully will come.

I still can't quite imagine all this... maybe normal!?

I look forward to exchanging opinions and gaining lots of new insights.

Cheers!

Hello!
It's not so great when the future neighborhood goes on a rampage against the planned dream house. What is the sticking point?

Oh, the usual... destruction of a recreational area, loss of valuable farmland for agriculture, unnecessary sealing of soil, too rapid community growth, too much additional traffic, infrastructure supposedly not designed for it, etc.
All people who built there themselves 15 years ago.

A good argument for the neighbors is possibly an increase in the value of their own property. When plots of land in the immediate neighborhood are suddenly sold at high prices, the land values of their properties also rise. Unless, of course, views are blocked, etc.

During the approval phase of the entire development area, there were also concerns from the long-time residents against our new residential area: allegedly increased flood risk, the small street through the district would become a highway, and so on and so forth, but no one really took it seriously. I just want to say, no matter where: the issue of the less enthusiastic neighborhood exists everywhere.

Well, there is currently a petition against our new housing development. However, the decision has already been made by the municipal committees, and the legal certainty is clearly on our side. The citizens' meeting that took place was nevertheless unpleasant. Some of the objections raised may be partly justified, but the city simply has not been able to sell any other plots.

I totally understand you. I know the looks of the old residents when you drive past to the new residential area...
