Greetings!

I am planning our kitchen in our newly built bungalow with a kitchen island.

According to the construction specification of the house, the ceiling will be a drywall ceiling. Does anyone have experience with installing extractor hoods on drywall ceilings? I am afraid that the thing might eventually fall into the pot or worse.

The weight of the recirculating extractor hoods that are shortlisted for me is between 25 - 30 kg.

For reinforcement or even distribution of the load, I would screw an OSB board behind it or have the drywall installer do it. I did that for our lamps (10 or 15kg) and in the shower side wall, which holds a radiator estimated at 40kg. They just need to be flush with the drywall. I guess your drywall installer knows about this too and it’s not really any extra effort for him.
