Hello dear members,

I have a question about the exterior facade. Unfortunately, it was painted with lime in my case back then.
Maybe someone of you has experience with what is best to paint over it.

Thanks for your answers
Regards Christian

Hello Tolentino,

Thank you for the response.
Does that mean a mineral exterior paint would work?

Well, not just any. Lime paint. Whether silicate paint will adhere without any problem, I would doubt that; you at least need some kind of bonding agent. The lime paints I know do chalk a bit, so it could be that the silicate paint comes off again. But I am not an expert, just a layman with experience. My experience with lime and silicate paints is limited to indoor use. However, I do not believe that these paints differ significantly for outdoor use.

It may be that this gets deleted soon, but you seem to be actively reading right now. Take a look at Schreiter and Kroll and get advice from them. They can surely help you. I'm not a representative of theirs, I just once bought [Dämmputz] from them.
