Hello everyone,

I am considering retrofitting the NUKI system (3pro). What are your experiences with it? Does the battery really last over 5 months? Is integration into existing systems possible? I am thinking of installing it minimally on the front door. But also the basement exterior door would be worth considering.

I have it in use on 2 side doors. Works well, both with keypad and with phone/watch. The battery lasts 4-6 months (depending on usage). Then just take it off and charge it for 1 day and it runs again. The volume is sometimes a bit annoying. Otherwise, the device can be recommended!

The Nuki is installed on two doors in our home: front door and back door. I can’t say how long the battery lasts, but we have a cable that goes from the Nuki to the power outlet – and when it blinks (I can never remember exactly how it blinks when it’s hungry) – it just gets charged (so far – for about 1 year – twice). For me, there are several reasons to have this device: The door opening by itself is kind of cute. I always enjoy it when it works (there are also outages … that’s annoying), as if it were a nice person opening it for me. I really like going out of the house without a key. (we have set up an emergency key, which has never been needed yet) I often leave the back door unintentionally open and can check from the sofa in the evening whether it’s closed and close it if necessary … more convenient than running down for nothing. There are weaknesses (see “outages”, above – or: a visit to the neighbor isn’t far enough to trigger the “automatic opening function.” Then I have to dig out the phone ) but it works well enough that I really like having it.

Just now I was reading about the trackers from Apple, which are allegedly able to locate within a few centimeters (the "Find My" system from Apple is said to be involved, without the respective users knowing or noticing) The stupidest flaw about Nuki for me is that it doesn’t know exactly where I am, which is why the door already opens when I walk past the house - on the street - or why the door doesn’t open automatically when I haven’t been far enough away. The chip from Apple would help, but that - or something similar - is apparently not planned ....
