By chance, I came across the house builder Holz und Raum. They use the insulation material Isowood made from: cement, wood chips, and water. What do you think of that? I have not seen such a system anywhere else.

We are currently building a house with this material. The topic of building biology was not necessarily our main focus when looking for a prefab house provider until we entered the Isowood show house for the first time in the model home park. We immediately noticed the significantly more pleasant indoor air. In addition, compared to other show houses, it was noticeably cooler at the end of a warm day than in other houses. Until then, we had assumed that insulation that protects against cold also protects equally well against heat in summer. However, Isowood seems to have significant advantages due to its mass. This also has a positive effect on sound insulation. Nowadays, cement is no longer used but borate salt. Besides ecological aspects, this improves the insulation value, so that our KfW55 house turned into a KfW40 house at the final stage. Ultimately, we found it very pleasant that there are no membranes used in the walls because the walls insulated with Isowood are vapor permeable. From our point of view, this is also the reason for the good air quality in the house and was ultimately the main reason for our purchase decision. But then such a house still has to be built!

Very old threads from 2012, response by a new user with their first post, containing a lot of nonsense...

Seems to be a very untrustworthy provider if they feel the need to make such crude advertising during the current construction boom.

We had also looked at this provider. Just for the offer, they needed over 4 weeks (despite repeated inquiries). The price was then far off (>20%) from the original estimate, although only the standard was initially offered. Further clarifications and inquiries were answered very slowly. For us, it was already clear during the offer phase that the provider would be eliminated, even though the concept is certainly not bad.

Hello Tego! I have to disappoint you. My post was not an advertisement. I just have a house like that, which I hopefully can move into someday. The wall structure still convinces me, unfortunately the rest around it does not. But that was not the topic!

I find this comment completely inappropriate. As a new user in a forum, one can easily overlook the date. You sign up, look for your provider, find a question and answer it. It's that simple.

We also looked at Isowood and had contact with an architect on our property. However, we did not come together.
The show houses in Frechen and Wuppertal stood out compared to others (some of which were scented) due to a pleasant indoor air quality, both in the hot summer and in winter. So they are definitely doing something differently and particularly well, and I think it is the Isowood insulation.
