Hello dear community,

After much consideration, we want to install a fixed patio roof on our house. Currently, like most people after building a house, we have the 2 umbrella solution, which becomes annoying in the long run. We want a fixed roof so that the patio furniture stays dry and later the patio roof can be retrofitted into a fixed cold winter garden with glass elements.

At first, we were considering a cubic glass roof with an under-roof awning. We discarded this because we find the heat buildup between glass and awning, the cleaning effort, and the limited use of the awning when grilling disadvantageous. A glass roof with a top-mounted awning was not an option for us because this construction looks too bulky on a modern house. We know the disadvantages of the louvered roof but can better come to terms with them than with the disadvantages of the glass roof.

Our patio measures 7 x 2.5/3.0m, so due to a bay window there is a setback of 50cm. Therefore, only a coupled patio roof with 2 elements is an option. The big players Renson/Brustur/Warema are out due to cost reasons (>55,000€) if you want to order zip screens, lighting, installation, and foundations.

After many exhibitions, we came across the Polish manufacturer "Tarasola," type "Technic Pro." The quality seems decent and the prices moderate. Does anyone have such a louvered roof and can share their experiences? Are there other reasonable manufacturers in the mid-price range?

Looking forward to your experiences, bafische

We are also looking into that right now. The prices of the market leaders are really unreasonable. Can you tell us how big the price difference between Tarasola and the market leaders is?

Hello,

your project is absolutely understandable, and when switching from an umbrella to a fixed roof, prioritizing durability and later expansion options makes a lot of sense. The topic of louver roofs is now standard for terraces with exactly these requirements, even though many manufacturers operate in the high-end segment. The market has opened up in recent years, both in terms of technology and price range. Tarasola repeatedly appears in recommendations for a reason when a well-processed, elegant system is sought that does not immediately claim a luxury category. The profiles appear robust, the mechanics are regularly tested by independent testing institutes, and online feedback—at least for the price-performance ratio—is solid. Replaceable slats, clean water drainage, sensible accessory kit. Ease of installation varies depending on the complexity of the substrate and roof cut, but as a manufacturer with a clear system solution, Tarasola is definitely able to neatly solve special shapes like yours with a bay window.

Competition in the mid-price segment comes from companies like Sunora, Gibus, or Brustor basic models. It is worth paying attention to the sizing of posts, guide rails, and motorization here so that the roof delivers no nasty surprises even in heavy rain and wind loads. The often advertised cheap providers with a "German sales company" but unknown production frequently make compromises in tightness, warranty, and retrofit options. Anyone planning zip screens, sliding shutters, or glazing later should definitely pay attention to the system compatibility from the start and have the accessory options confirmed in writing by the specialist company or an experienced installation company.

An important point is also maintenance accessibility—motors, awnings, or drainage should remain reachable without dismantling the entire system. A clarifying conversation with the installer before ordering often helps more than the most beautiful factory brochure.

Tarasola is usually priced at about half of Renson, Brustor, or Warema. Where the “market leaders” quickly start at €50,000 with extras like screens and lighting, at Tarasola you typically get offers between €25,000 and €35,000 for the same equipment—depending on version and provider. The gap usually remains significant.
