Hello,

a house with 2 apartments each about 75-80 sqm + basement. The ground floor is now being completely renovated. The heating system is also new.

The company performing the work offers a Brötje gas boiler with 24 KW. This should initially only supply the ground floor and in the future also the apartment on the first floor when it becomes available with the right of residence.

No one can tell me anything about Brötje. There is also no company nearby for that. I think you are better off with well-known brands.
But which one? Viessmann, Remeha, Weishaupt, ATAG, Buderus, Vaillant ...

With which one can you hardly go wrong... and why?

Best regards Frank

Without being able to recommend anything to you directly, Brötje is also over a hundred years old and in my opinion is one of the well-known established brands. What is important when choosing is also what your plumber installs on a daily basis, because that is usually what they are familiar with and can help you with directly, otherwise you will always need the factory customer service.

We currently have a Weishaupt WTC-GW 25 and it keeps running and running and running. So far, there's nothing to complain about.

Viessmann was supposed to be the Mercedes of heating systems. Whether it still is, I don't know. We now have a Wolf because the plumber of our general contractor installed them. Initially, there were some issues (I had also asked about that here). Since then, no problems or limitations. I would say: the technology of gas heating systems has proven itself over decades – they should all be pretty good on average.

How are the heat losses from the house? Is the 24kW possibly mercilessly oversized? Brötje is now well-known too, but if you don't have anyone nearby who can maintain it (inexpensively). Then you haven't gained anything with it.

We also have a Brötje BMR 20/24 SP220 (i.e. 220l hot water storage tank), combined with solar thermal energy. Our heating engineer can also maintain them. Good quality-price-performance ratio, although the prices have also increased significantly. It cost us just under €9,300 including installation in 2019 for the heating system and solar thermal energy (excluding underfloor heating).
