Hello,

we want to finance three planned measures through a KFW loan. It does not seem like a bad idea to us with an interest-only initial phase and such interest conditions.

While we are still waiting for an offer, Nerv, we are taking a look at this application. I’m taking the liberty to link it here once. I don’t know if I’m allowed to do that, but since the KFW is not a company for which I would be making special advertising? If prohibited, my apologies.

So, apparently the planned measures have to be examined by an expert. Do we understand correctly that these experts MUST come from this list of energy efficiency experts? We have already called up the list and also found numerous "experts" near us. So far, so good, but who pays these experts, please? Presumably we do ourselves? How much does something like this cost? And how thorough is this examination? Are multiple on-site appointments made or is it more like "yes, yes, just show your cost estimate and that’s it"? How long does one typically wait for such an evaluation by an expert? About as long as for the craftsman?

And when you submit this KFW application to the house bank, can you tell us how long it roughly takes until everything is approved? Three days, three weeks, more like 3 months or is even 3 months optimistic?

Thank you!

Good morning. That's right, the consultant must be listed with KfW, otherwise it won't work. You pay the consultant, but it is subsidized by 50%. He also points out if you build according to the Energy Saving Ordinance: look here in the attic a bit more, close a gap, and you get to KfW55. I don't know if he checks every trade, but he should pay attention to it. After all, he is then responsible with his signature. But there are certainly different kinds. Everything with KfW is now done online. However, I can't say anything about time frames here.

Thanks to you anyway!

I just got home and of course I didn't reach anyone by phone from the two experts targeted. Hm, we are having our skylights installed in mid-September, have now also chosen special burglar-resistant windows there, decided rather short-term, and would basically be interested in including these in the loan as well. But will everything work out by mid-September?

What do you estimate, how much does such an expert cost? Are we talking about 100 or 1000 €, or something more in the middle or something completely different?

I have applied for funding for energy-efficient renovation. The consultant cost me €200. It will be more expensive for you though.

Hm... 200 euros is quite a sum of money..

In our case, it specifically concerns the replacement of 7 windows. The primary focus was on burglary protection, but the U-value is of course also better than that of the previous windows. I don’t have the papers on hand right now, but the company is familiar with kfw and the windows are accordingly eligible for funding.

Then two Velux roof windows will be installed upstairs; they are RC 2 and can also be specially locked. However, there were no windows there before. Therefore, we also don't know if these new windows can be funded by kfw. That wasn't even a consideration at the beginning; the idea of financing it through kfw came later. The email to the company has, of course, remained unanswered so far.

An alarm system is also to be installed. All in all, it will "only" cost about 12k euros. If the advisor would already cost us 500 or more for that... hmm.
