Thank you very much for the feedback on this specific issue. In the end, it would be about a bit more than "just" the WC (which is currently located in the area of the thereby reduced kitchen and is also tiny due to the construction/door), but also about a windbreak. At the same time, there is currently a window to the hallway area in this area, so a windbreak without additional lateral light only makes limited sense. Until now, we assumed that the neighbor would "merely" have to give approval here (which would probably not be a problem), but not that a setback area (approx. 60 cm x length of the extension) would fall onto the neighbor's property (currently without collision with their setback areas), which we actually do not want to impose on any neighbor, as we ourselves would not readily agree to that. The main concern is actually to keep a guest WC, so I would very much like to take up your suggestion.

Just as a thought experiment ...

Unfortunately, that is the disadvantage of an existing building, that an element I would actually like to change is almost immovable for structural reasons, namely the wall next to the current entrance area, on which two lintels lie (one to the south towards the concrete support and one to the north over the actual dividing area between the (mis)planned vestibule and corridor).

But that is an easily fixable disadvantage of a tiny partial section, that you could also make us think about the whole house.

So, I am currently in the process of organizing a petition, so that I can report on the solution to my question/request in the foreseeable future (i.e. about 3 - 4 months).

Instead of 3 - 4 months, it has rather become 7 months, but as promised, here is the feedback: After consultation with the city and reduction of the wall thickness (and thus a distance to the neighboring property of 2.5 m with otherwise unchanged planning), an approval of the deviation from the distance regulations was granted; the directly affected neighbor had agreed.
