Hello everyone,

while replacing a ventilation in my guest WC, I noticed a strange coating on the inside of the pipe. The pipe itself seems to be made of plastic. However, inside there are cement-like residues. These are gray, porous, and unevenly distributed. I am now worried that this material sticking to the inside of the pipe could contain asbestos.

The house was built in 1978. I cannot say if this area has been renovated.

Can someone possibly tell me what material this is and why it was applied? Should I arrange for a test?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Pictures are attached.

Best regards
David

Please forgive me - but I think this is simply rubbish...

In this case, I would be reassured. Thank you for reviewing the pictures.

Asbestos is a fibrous silicate - so it should look different from the start...

I would consider that to be a precipitation of sludge from dust and condensate.

I consider asbestos and mold assessments as well as structural analysis and load-bearing capacity based on photo observations unsuitable. Those I quoted think similarly and do not define anything. Therefore:

Gently remove something from the tiles and send it to a laboratory. Which one or where can be googled.
