Execute screed at different heights?

Hello everyone. Since we do not want a thick transition strip between the hallway (tiles) and the bedrooms (vinyl), we are considering having the screed poured to match the build-up dimensions of the floor coverings. The build-up for the vinyl, including leveling compound, is about 5mm. We do not yet know about the tiles. What do you think? Does that make sense? Can the screed layer be done that precisely? Or will everything end up worse than with transition strips?

My brother-in-law has the same, and there is really no difference in height. You just have to choose the tiles very carefully beforehand and discuss everything with the screed installer in advance, then he should be able to manage it. Our GU also asked us about this, so it doesn’t seem to be that unusual.

Normally, a 1cm difference is enough. You can make up the rest with tile adhesive and filler (for vinyl). If vinyl is glued down.

No problem. We gave the screed layer the build-up heights of the floor coverings for each room beforehand, as these differ significantly as in your case: vinyl glued down - so without backing material - as well as tiles. A difference of 2-3mm doesn't matter, you don't notice it with a transition strip.

Tina wants it without a transition strip (Pfuscherleiste). The 2-3mm deviation can be easily compensated. As already mentioned, use 1mm more adhesive for the tiles and with the vinyl, you can also level 1mm with special filler, then you won't have an edge or an "ugly transition strip."

I read something about no "thick" transition strip, but you’re right, it should be without.

We have both, rooms with and without transition strips from vinyl to tiles. We have transition strips upstairs because there the laying direction of the same floor covering in the rooms is different.
