Excavation for strip foundation too wide

Here they are telling nonsense again, man man... with us, gravel cushion 0/45 was dumped, compacted, excavated 40 wide 100 deep and then concrete was poured 4 days later. Nothing at all happens. The trench for the house connections was similarly deep and wide, vertical walls and was exposed for almost 3 weeks. Nothing broke off or slipped. It was the end of November, so constant rain...

I am responsible for setting the formwork and afterwards filling and compacting with gravel.

I am in favor of setting formwork and then backfilling with crushed stone and compacting.
