Hello everyone,

on our property we have a total of 3 water taps installed. Since they are not needed, I am wondering whether they can simply be dug up or not? What do I need to consider? Are there any dangers?

According to the previous owner, they used them to water the large garden back then. The pipeline is no longer in operation and I would prefer to have my water taps in a different location anyway.

What do you think? My main concern is whether it is somehow dangerous and what I need to pay attention to. I understand it will be a nice job :)

Gardening itself is dangerous ;) So, grab the spade and start digging... You just have to be sure that the garden pump is really no longer connected (or the water pipe from the house).

So the water pipe is no longer intact and was disconnected years ago, according to the neighbor who used the pipe back then. Can I simply dig it up then? I don't want to dig up the whole system and end up in her house someday :)

So just the part that is currently on my property.

Dangerous. We had a case like that once where something similar was claimed. It was dismantled on the outside and the old pipe was left in place. Later, an uninformed person turned the valves in the basement and the water ran outside all weekend. The blame and the damage were then shared.
