Eternit as a roofing alternative to clay roof tiles?

Hello,

our architect actually recommended clay roof tiles, but an acquaintance said that we should also consider Eternit roof tiles because they are significantly cheaper than clay roof tiles.

Concrete roof tiles are rather ruled out due to the rather negative stories that they crumble after a few decades, etc.

Has anyone here had experience with the company Eternit? Asbestos has not been used for several years now, so what are the pros and cons of Eternit panels as roofing?

Thank you very much for all suggestions and experiences

I consider that a rumor.

"Somewhat negative stories"? Another rumor.

It's all a matter of taste and budget. Nothing more or less.

Yes, in terms of appearance, I think clay and concrete roof tiles are basically the same now? Both are available in all shapes.

You’re just torn back and forth. Of course, I don’t want to spend unnecessary money if there’s a cheaper but equally durable alternative. What do you have on your roof ?

Privately, we had concrete roof tiles on the last two houses. In my rental properties as well. 50 years of durability is sufficient - usually, the builders decay by then...

Clay roof tiles are not as dimensionally accurate as concrete tiles, so a roof simply looks different. Durability is certainly no longer noticeable in either variant.

Thank you for your answers. Does it matter if you want to install a widespread photovoltaic system whether you use clay roof tiles or concrete roof tiles? Hardly, right? The roof hook solution will be the same for both types.
