So the company Bauwerk informed us that parquet is not recommended for wet rooms (especially when children are around who might splash water more often), but that it is basically doable. It always depends on how you treat the floor! However, it is not recommended to use beech or maple for this, as these two woods react very strongly to moisture, which quickly leads to swelling joints. I had this question myself regarding parquet in the kitchen as well. But in the bathroom, you have to be even more careful not to splash water and if you do, at least dry it immediately. If there is a real flooding, the insurance will have to pay anyway. No matter if it’s a carpet, laminate, or parquet!

Hello everyone – Well, I would definitely do it! Ultimately, it’s all just a matter of professional and proper installation as well as surface finishing (sealed, oiled, waxed). You must definitely not use sealed parquet!! Only oiled, and then you might have to re-treat it 2-3 times in the first year. We ourselves will install parquet on the upper floor (living floor). On the ground floor, however (sleeping, working, and [Nasszellen]), a nice seamless floor, which will then also extend into the bathrooms.
