Hi,

our tiler brought up the grouting material. He said he could also apply and recommend epoxy grout in wet areas.

What has your experience been?
Is an additional charge to be expected?

Best regards, Barossi

Yes. EP is expensive. But absolutely! waterproof and solid, even vapor-tight. When cured, it is harmless to health, handle with care before that, but that's what he wants to do. It becomes very, very hard and is only slightly elastic, adheres to everything like hell, I guess before a joint tears, the tile will break.

Why is he suggesting that to you? It’s done to seal something. I personally grouted our kitchen countertop with it: it was a terrible job, sticky and tedious. And very expensive... we are definitely in the pricey category *laugh. For about 3 sqm, we paid roughly 500 DM, that was in 1999! That’s probably not any cheaper nowadays.

Regards, Yvonne

Why not? I expect that he at least asks me.....

So, do it or leave it?

Best regards, Barossi

Overdressed. Unsuitable as an expansion joint. Unnecessary as a joint between tiles instead of a cement product.
