To get off topic again.

I wanted to pull a doorbell wire through my empty conduit between the house and garage, about 7m long and 110mm in diameter. Unfortunately, I was not able to do so. To find out why, I bought a €30 endoscope from the river supplier.

As already mentioned, the cable is rigid, but once it goes around the corner, it is no longer really suitable.

Attached are a few pictures.

You can decide for yourself whether such quality is sufficient for you.

This is how it looked from the outside when I dug up the damaged spot.

Then, the other day, I also looked into the infiltration system of my sewage treatment plant to see if sewage sludge had settled in the gravel.

and the spot where you had to dig, did you find it with the camera? That would already be a success.

25€ Amazon. As described, there are problems with curves, etc. Nevertheless, I had success. Because of the length of the cable, I was able to precisely determine where my empty conduit is damaged. (M25 here) I therefore used it less to see exactly what is damaged, but rather to see if it is damaged anywhere.

Well, I actually wanted to first find out if something was broken or why I couldn’t get a small blade wire through this huge pipe despite the pull rope.

From the approximate length I pushed in, I was already able to say roughly where it had to be. Unfortunately, I still had to dig and search. ;-(

The question is what image quality a cheap endoscope delivers and how long it lasts. I have worked with professional devices in the aviation sector, which cost four- to sometimes five-figure amounts. If you can live with the cheap version possibly breaking after the fifth use, go for it – if not, then rent one if needed or call a specialist. From my point of view, "reasonable" devices are too expensive for private use unless you have specific hobbies where you, for example, regularly inspect engines or similar.
