Hello,

we have now been living in our new building for half a year and the electricity and gas consumption is slowly settling so that it can be well estimated for the future.

After moving in, we of course ended up in the expensive basic supply tariff from eon-Avacon. Now, for the first time ever, I am thinking about switching. Rough research has shown me that there is considerable savings potential.

Is it really as easy as the internet (well-known comparison portals etc.) suggests?

There must be some of you who switch regularly (annually?). What do you pay attention to? Does the transition go smoothly? And what is your opinion on green electricity tariffs?

Short and sweet yes and yes. Although we have been with Vattenfall for a few years now, they also offer bonuses if you stay or renew the contract. You can definitely go for green electricity if you’re into that.

Being into that would be an exaggeration, but when I roughly go through Check24 etc., I see no disadvantage with green electricity. So it doesn’t seem to be necessarily more expensive than conventional electricity. So there’s probably no reason against it.

In general, there is absolutely nothing against that.

Currently, I switch monthly, both in the apartment and the construction power on the property. And it works, and I basically pay nothing due to portal credits.

I also switch annually and always look for the cheapest provider. The "hardest" part is not forgetting to cancel or to find a new provider who takes care of the cancellation. I always choose green electricity. It is important that you have a 12-month price guarantee (with a 1-year contract term) and that you don’t pay too much in advance.
