Hello everyone,

since I am a bit puzzled and our installer said that everything is normal, I am reaching out to you. We have been living in our newly built house since the beginning of 2021.
It is a traditionally built house to [KFW55]-standard. The heated living area is about 140 m².
As heating, we have underfloor heating everywhere and a Dimplex air-water heat pump (LA 9S-TU). In 2021, we had an electricity consumption of the heat pump of 5715 kWh.

To be honest, we had expected the electricity consumption to be somewhat lower. However, finding comparison values is proving to be very difficult.

What are your experiences with the electricity consumption of your heat pump? Is that realistic?

Thank you very much for your experiences!

Best regards, Michael

Please split the electricity and heat quantity according to hot water and heating. However, it sounds quite high at first, heating demand should be in the order of 5000 kWh heat = approx. 1500 kWh electricity. Hot water on top. In the new building, there is also a certain residual moisture present, which also drives the heating demand.

Is the screed heating phase also included in the consumption? If not, I would find a consumption of about 17kW already quite extreme with an estimated annual performance factor of 3. We also built in 2016 (I believe it was called Energy Saving Ordinance 2014 back then) and among other things, we "improved" the insulation and the exterior walls. Consumption about 10kW and at room temperatures of 22-24 degrees.

There is a database Google for "web-based heat pump consumption database."

Nevertheless, something is wrong with the size of the house and the consumption. Is the heating rod running continuously?

It is like saying "I drive a Golf station wagon and consume 8l of diesel per 100km, is that normal?"

When was the heating turned on? How warm are your rooms? How often do you shower and bathe? How many people are in the house? What supply temperature is the heating designed for?

The energy consumption for heating is higher in the first years because a lot of moisture still needs to be ventilated out.
By the way, the calculation of the heat demand is based on 19°C room temperature. Whoever heats to 23°C already consumes 25% more.

Then shower extensively and for a long time, a supply temperature of 40°C because the heating pipes were laid far apart.

An acquaintance consumes 4,500 kWh annually with his geothermal heat pump in his 200m² house because he heats the place to 24°C.

The 5,000 kWh per year at moving in is not entirely unrealistic.

That is not correct. According to DIN EN 12831, a room temperature of 20°C is assumed, 24°C for bathrooms. Otherwise, you are right, it depends.
