Hello everyone, we are planning to house all the technology in the equipment room in a server cabinet. There is a power strip in the server cabinet. Now the question arises whether I also need sockets in the area of the equipment room where the cables come in. As far as I know, the HÜP from Kabel Deutschland and the HÜP from Telekom do not require direct power. If amplifiers or other parts require power, I have that in my small server cabinet, where all the parts are actually supposed to be installed, including the HÜPs. Is this even possible? So HÜPs in the server cabinet, just leaving the cables at the house connection long enough so that they can be installed in the cabinet? Thanks.

Hello,

the handover points will not be placed in the network cabinet by the technicians, it is also not a fixed installation location. I would have them installed near the cabinet and still have a power outlet installed, you never know if an active amplifier or something else might be needed. From the handover points, you can then go directly to the cabinet and install your cable modem or DSL splitter there.

Ok, thanks! I wanted to have a triple socket installed next to the server cabinet anyway. That should be enough. But why not fixed inside the cabinet, if you remove the back panel you also have a solid place behind it, namely the wall. Or am I misunderstanding that?

When I read server cabinet, remember to have a separate grounding cable installed. Our electrician just went along with it like that. Tendentially, grounding is also done via the socket, but an additional one can't hurt and is recommended by almost all device manufacturers.

I think there is usually a grounding bar in the equipment room to which this can be connected, or am I mistaken?

I assumed that you wanted to have the sockets screwed to the back panel of your cabinet; of course, you can have the sockets screwed to your house wall and place the cabinet in front of it.
