The homebuilders somehow mutate into perfect structural engineers and architects. The structural engineer, besides his manpower, also has to cover hardware, software, electricity, rent, insurance, liability, building inspection, printing costs, paper costs, etc. As if everything is done in one day. Every kitchen seller or even real estate agent earns more than some structural engineers or architects. Unfortunately, some structural engineers and architects lack the courage to submit an offer according to HOAI because at almost every corner there is someone else who completes planning services and structural calculations for less than 1,000 EUR.

You don't have to tell me that; after all, we "sacrificed" almost TEUR 8 for the structural engineer for our house. In our opinion, however, we also received good performance, advice, material selection, etc. for it.

Personally, I wouldn't necessarily trust a TEUR 1 structural calculation (in fact, one is available to neighbors at that price - for a large single-family house + granny flat). It's not that the house won't hold, but it's probably more of a "off-the-shelf" structural calculation, with which you can't do anything wrong - except maybe way too much concrete, steel, bearings, etc.

Hello,

I can’t tell you the hours, but it definitely adds up. For us, the structural engineering for a house of this size up to and including the building application costs EUR 3,400 plus VAT. For the subsequent construction planning including all detailed calculations and drawings, about the same amount is added.

Then they should find a structural engineer who prepares the required calculations at that price or just download a free program from the internet.

These are exactly the people who complain in the front but suddenly spend a lot of euros on a completely overpriced kitchen and then still have the audacity to complain when they got exactly what they paid for

Rhenish regards

Thank you very much for your assessments. Maybe I can report later (2014) on how the construction went.
