Hello everyone,

we have finished our shell construction and are now starting with the interior work. I have a question regarding our filigree ceilings. On the ground floor, we do not want to suspend the ceilings; the plasterer has offered to plaster them for us. However, in the basement, he said this would be unnecessary.

Now my perhaps amateur question: If I do not plaster or suspend the ceiling, how do I proceed with it? Clearly, I have to fill the joints, but then?? Is it simply painted afterwards?

How did you do it?

Thanks for your help.

A buddy of mine only wanted to fill the seams. However, he then decided to skim coat the entire ceiling again with fine filler. The result is almost perfect

We only had the joints filled on our concrete ceiling on the ground floor, and then painted directly on it. The result is absolutely OK, but if someone wants a perfect finish, plastering is necessary.

But a basement ceiling? That definitely works. You will probably have to paint over it yourself 3 times until it covers.

With a decent paint, you don't have to paint x there. For concrete, please use a primer, otherwise it will eventually peel off.

Certainly depends on the intended use. For storage rooms etc., filling and painting is sufficient, but concrete must be primed.
