Drill a hole through the exterior wall (air conditioning) in timber frame construction

Hello everyone, I need to drill a hole through my house wall (for air conditioning). The house is timber frame construction. I assume that drilling such a hole is associated with difficulties regarding the vapor barrier, etc., right? How would one proceed here? Thanks for your tips. Ashley
