Hi guys,

I am boarding a room that, due to angles, slopes, and a door opening, has relatively many sections with a width of 90/100/110 cm.
Room height 240 cm.

All indicated walls should be boarded twice (it will be a bathroom).

Would you rather choose 2x vertical with 2600x600 boards with 30 cm spacing between studs,
or 2x horizontal with 1200x600 boards and normal 60 cm spacing between studs?
Or 1x vertical at 60 cm spacing, and the second layer horizontal, also at 60 cm spacing?

Thanks and best regards

Ever thought about sheathing with OSB and gypsum board? This way, almost all cross joints are avoided solely due to different dimensions. Additionally, there are good fastening options everywhere for all kinds of "Gedöns".

Honestly, no. Since it will be a bathroom (a wet room), and OSB is 3 times as expensive.

I have only been gluing fixtures in the bathroom for years. Mirror, towel holder, toilet paper roll, etc. have been sticking well on tiles in another bathroom for 7 years already. Therefore, no need for OSB.

So my question remains :D

Do you absolutely have to double-board? You can also use gypsum fiberboards (Rigidur, Fermacell), then you can meet (or even exceed) all the requirements for domestic wet rooms without double boarding.

They also have disadvantages (very heavy and quite difficult to screw, at least with metal subframes), but I think overall you are still faster with them.

Or alternatively impregnated gypsum plasterboard, but then 18 mm thick - also sufficient for bathrooms.
