hello forum, now our carport is finally coming up and I have some questions. It will be a double carport made of galvanized, coated steel with a flat roof. Two sides will be closed off, either with wood or metal strips, that is yet to be decided. The size will be approximately 6.60 meters deep by 6.20 meters wide. Due to the size, it cannot be attached directly to the house. So I need at least 4 foundations. Now there will be two foundations on the house side. Very close to the floor slab which is surrounded by xps. What can I put between the foundation and the floor slab so that it does not get damaged over time? Can it be affected by anything if two foundations are placed next to each other? How large are your carports? How many more meters would I need to add a small room for the garbage bin and a bicycle? Thank you very much for your answers. Regards

9m length is usually the maximum when the part is directly or up to 3 meters away from the boundary. If it is in a corner, you have to be careful that the maximum boundary building length (once read something about 15m) could be reached very quickly.

What kind of foundations do you want to set? 4 pieces? One in each? Each post gets a foundation, otherwise the post would not make sense. For that, the foundations are not a problem, as they are usually rather small. How much distance do you want to keep from the house?

With 9m length you get your car shelter area and shed just under. With 6.6m length only for the car, it will be tight for the shed. Note the overhang behind the shed.

It is located directly next to the house. The upper beam will be attached to the house for safety. Two posts on each side would be sufficient, but due to possible wooden claddings, there might be three on one side. Of course, each post will have a proper, frost-free foundation. The rear roof overhang will be very small because the house ends there and it should not protrude. However, I could still have space for one meter of roof overhang at the driveway. Then I would have 7.60 meters of parking space. A room fits in there, right? For a bicycle and a garbage bin.

as long as the beam with posts stands on the ground, it works perfectly. the attachment to the house must be done into the floor slab. a veneer is not a load-bearing wall but purely for aesthetics

I think 2-3 posts over 6 meters is really too few. usually there is one every max 2 meters (often 1.8m for standard fence panels), so at least 4 per side

the foundations don’t have to be very big. with us, they put in a maximum of half a bag per hole. however, they also worked reversely. first set up the carport, set the posts, then poured. the carport stood on stilts in the meantime. any alignment and such was omitted.

as long as there is no wall or similar there, it isn’t really a roof overhang anyway. with a wall (e.g. shed) the overhang has to be somewhat bigger so rain doesn’t come in from above.

for walls you need more foundations again, because somewhere you have to screw the stuff on. our carport has e.g. 22 posts and thus as many foundations. for just 1 door you need 2 posts...
whether 1 meter deep shed is enough for you, I don’t know. I find it rather ridiculously small. over time, more will be put in there as well. for example garden chairs, grill, garden tools like wheelbarrow etc...

Sometimes you also push them into the shed ;-)
