Hello,

I am currently having a condominium built.
The construction description states with doorbell, intercom system, and door opener.

There is now a doorbell. However, only at the front door and not at the apartment door.

In my opinion, there should also be one there. When I read in the construction description, with doorbell, who thinks that it might not also be at the apartment door?

I find it uncomfortable that someone just knocks at the door, like in a hotel room or an office….
What do you think? Is there perhaps a legal requirement or something similar?

Hi,

does the contract state 1 doorbell or 2 doorbells? If 1 doorbell (or not explicitly several mentioned), the construction company is probably right.

Conversely: Would you agree if the construction company installs the intercom and the door opener at the apartment door and not at the front door?

Best regards

Michael

For a new building nothing unusual. After all, no uninvited guest should be in the house. Accordingly: guest rings, check with the intercom whether they are welcome, and then let the guest in at the opened door. If the 'guest' makes you uneasy, avoid opening or receive them downstairs at the reception. I consider this a security measure – although I have to say that I have never seen this (apartment door without a doorbell). Is there a peephole installed???

Of course, it is nonsense to install an intercom system on the apartment door. But isn’t it silly, and can I be blamed for expecting a second doorbell on the apartment door when I already have the doorbell connected? Door handles are also being installed on the door even though they are not included in the construction description. I don’t actually need them inside, so where do you start, where do you stop?

By the way, a peephole is not installed.

Of course, the basic principle is that someone rings the doorbell at the entrance door and I let them in after checking with them. But what if a friend is standing there and the neighbor lets him in, which is okay. Then he stands at the door and knocks... The fact that he should have rung downstairs doesn’t help at that moment. If a neighbor passes by, does he first have to go to the front door and ring?! I wouldn’t hear the knocking....

So, in my opinion, one can rightly assume that if a doorbell is installed, one should also be installed on the apartment door. Anything else is unrealistic, right? I would derive my claim from that. Otherwise, door handles or similar things would also have to be included in the construction...

How far along is the construction? Otherwise, just upgrade the thing yourself, just like the spy. It doesn't cost a fortune. I don’t know of any obligation, as I know plenty of old buildings that don’t have doorbells at the apartment doors....

On the one hand, the neighbor should not let in any unknown persons; on the other hand, by the second time at the latest, your visitor knows to announce themselves downstairs in advance.

But that is how it is with the construction service description: what is not included does not serve any interpretation of what is common or what one wishes. Everything that is not included must be questioned, and usually one does not even see what is missing because one concludes
