Hello everyone,

I want to buy a condominium. The apartment building (approx. 20-30 units) was built in 1960. I wonder if it would be sensible to renew the electrical system. Unfortunately, the owners do not know anything about the current condition. I am attaching photos of the fuse box from an outlet.

What is your opinion, should the electrical system be renewed or is it not necessary? We want to renovate anyway.

Best regards
Torsten

When looking at the sub-distribution, a renewal of the electrical system seems more than advisable to me. The entire apartment is divided into 3 circuit breakers for lights and sockets. Circuits for washing machine, dishwasher, or dryer are not visible. Residual current devices are also scarce. How large is the apartment? Is the apartment operated with night storage heaters?

Hello, the apartment is 70m² in size, 3 rooms, gas central heating.

What are the heating contactor, load shedding relay, and rotary controller for then?

Of course, you can also live with the old electrical system. But it's like continuing to rely on coal single stoves in every room. So clearly, do a complete overhaul. Just because a B16 circuit breaker of a somewhat newer vintage has sneaked in at the top right, the rest is a relic from the Cold War. Use the renovation as an opportunity to have everything redone or redone. Sure. Nothing has been done to it since 1960.

I wonder how the rest of the apartment looks if the owners consider it normal to send pictures of completely filthy sockets. It really shakes me. And you can also see the age of the fuse box - needs to be replaced.
