Hello everyone,

this is about our house connection. The multi-utility connection is in place and in 2 weeks the municipal utilities will come and lay gas, water, electricity. Telekom is also commissioned and so far it was the case that the municipal utilities pulled a conduit for Telekom.

According to the municipal utilities, this no longer happens because negotiations with Telekom have failed. Now a conduit / speedpipe for a fiber optic connection is being laid. However, the street is not yet connected to the fiber optic network. The municipal utilities told me that this connection leaves no space for additional cables in the multi-utility connection and that a new separate house entry for Telekom is required.

Unfortunately, I don’t quite understand the whole thing:

the following was ordered:

1. Municipal utilities house connections, gas, water, electricity
2. Telekom: telephone / internet (copper cable)

Now the question is whether we really have to make a new house entry (no basement available). That means a core drilling, right?

I thought that several cables could be laid through the 4th conduit in the multi-utility connection.

We actually wanted to choose Telekom and Unitymedia as internet / telephone providers or have both laid initially.

Can you help me? Do we really have to make a new house entry in our house connection room now?

What does Telekom Bauherrenservice say about the matter?

They say that it is not Telekom's fault. Since we indicated at the time of placing the order that no civil engineering work would be required and a conduit was available, it was recommended to prepare a conduit.

Unfortunately, the answer was not very helpful to me, as I do not know whether the space in the fourth conduit of the multi-utility connection is sufficient to accommodate the municipal utilities, Telekom, and possibly even Unitymedia.

You can refuse the fourth pipe with the fiber optic pipe at the municipal utilities.... they probably want to install the fiber optic connection for you later themselves, municipal utilities often develop fiber optics. Or, if you don't want that, commission your BU with another house entry, that doesn't cost the world either. Such a drilling with a conduit.

If the municipal utility lays a empty conduit, everything is fine, since it doesn't have to be fiber optic but copper instead – that doesn't matter, they wouldn't do that anyway? I just don't understand the problem – the empty conduit for fiber optic can't be too small for a regular phone line, the cable is similarly thick. Whether there would still be room for TV cables, no idea (or would that be fiber optic then? No idea, we have a satellite dish). And in your order, I also don't read anything about cable TV cables.

Thank you for the answers, I have also already considered rejecting the fourth pipe. Even after another installation. But doesn't the cable run along the outside of the house wall with a new installation? I imagine that would look unappealing.

Unitymedia has not been ordered yet, we have only considered having another alternative installed in the house. Not for television, but for internet and telephone. That way you have more options later.

Is it possible or allowed based on experience for only one cable to go through the multi-service connection, or could, for example, 3 cables run through the duct, such as UM, Telekom, and fiber optic?

Thank you for your help
