Hello,

I would be interested to know how you do it:

You enter through the front door and depending on the design, your staircase to the upper floor/attic is located to the left or right of the door. Now you come in with your street shoes and maybe walk a few meters until you take off your shoes or put them down in the cloakroom area. Others in the house wearing slippers now also walk exactly along the same path where you entered to get to the stairs to the upper floor/attic. How have you solved this, or do you just have to live with it?

Thanks for your feedback!

Arrange the stairs differently. It is not necessarily the case that from the front door you first encounter the stairs and then the shoe storage area. I have never understood that in the model homes I visited... If it can no longer be changed, I would probably work with some kind of dirt-trapping mat. And in winter then with a plastic tray for wet shoes.

Arrange the staircase differently
Place a vestibule in front that accommodates the wardrobe and the shoes
Take off shoes directly at the door and not at the wardrobe

    [*]Rearrange stairs
    [*]Windbreak
    [*]Recess doormat
    [*]Take off shoes immediately

This is also a big annoyance for me in our current apartment, so we planned it exactly as suggested here: tiled vestibule with wardrobe, then behind that the "hallway" with the stairs going up and the guest WC. This way, the vestibule can get a bit dirty and you can still go upstairs or to the guest WC without having to walk through it.
