Hello everyone,
we have built a prefabricated house with a timber frame construction. Now it’s time to build the entrance platform. Due to the parking lot in front of it, we have to build a 3-step staircase along the house wall instead of directly facing the front door. The house manufacturer specifies DIN 68000-2 for protection against splash water. It requires a grate between the entrance platform and the front door. The adjacent steps, if I understood correctly, must be set as a drip strip with a distance of 30 cm from the basement wall.
So the entire staircase would have a 30 cm distance from the wall, which looks quite unattractive. At the top there would then be the grate in front of the door, which would look like a bridge.
Do the professionals interpret DIN 68000-2 the same way I do? And if so, how should one proceed if the entire stairway is covered with a canopy? Can the grate and the drip strip then be omitted?
The photo shows the approximate staircase design.
Thank you very much for your tips and opinions.
Best regards
Manuel
