I know grooves that are not only V-shaped but also rounded so that a round metal profile fits in for reinforcement (exists in the area of wood construction). This leaves the hard surface material, which is often only less than 1mm thick anyway, behind, directly underneath a bonded metal profile. This should also hold as a stair edge. Surface hardness through residual vinyl, metal for shape stability.

Hello everyone!
A well-glued stair edge is very durable and long-lasting.

This video shows how the assembly adhesive is applied to the front edge of the stair and also shows the aluminum profile proposed in an earlier message (for worn steps).

Regarding the wear layer: Those who are more concerned can choose a floor with a higher wear layer or use PU sealers to increase the wear layer.

Flooring with 0.7 mm wear layer:

How is a weakness supposed to arise there? Milling a 45° V-groove is nothing more than creating a miter joint. The flexible functional layer bends, the carrier material aligns, then the 45° angles fit together without a gap...

The picture in post #2 does not show a V-groove, someone just ran a milling cutter through.
