Hello everyone I want to cover our stairs with new vinyl flooring. A craftsman said that he would manufacture the steps in advance and then install them. A V-groove cutter would be used, which cuts a matching groove into the click vinyl. Has anyone of you maybe done this or had it done? I was not familiar with this procedure... Best regards mike

I have no experience with that. But Treppe99 does.

But! Especially at the stressed edge, the thin material?

: The material should actually remain equally thick or thin. It should not be milled down to the wear layer. I also came across the following during my internet search:

By the way: Can vinyl coverings with HDF (wineo 400 shown) also be glued without any problems? Some exclude gluing, but I cannot explain the reasons.

You asked about such a milled groove. How is the material supposed to be the same thickness then?

Why don't you ask your stair builder?

Of course, the material becomes thinner at the milled groove. The support is still provided by folding or bending. It was the idea of a staircase builder. I basically wanted to find out whether this is a common practice...

I already answered that in post#2. The company does this professionally with the vinyl flooring.
