My husband and I regularly argue when tradespeople come. On Monday, the balcony door has to be repaired. He will need a while. On Friday, the plasterers are coming to finish plastering the garage. For that, they need water. That means they also have to come into the house.

I am self-employed and have to work constantly. My husband also can't just take time off. Now he always expects me to quickly drive home and supervise the tradespeople.

That's nonsense. They can work alone. I don't have to sit next to them. But my husband doesn't want that at all. He'd rather call in the parents-in-law so that they can guard the house sitting on the sofa at our place. Is it such a fuss at your place?

No theater with us. Whoever wants to create it stays at home - it’s that simple. Otherwise, key to the neighbor.

No, no drama. But a matter of course not to leave a stranger alone at home or to hand over the key. That is just negligent.

We have good and understanding bosses and enough overtime to reduce, my husband the possibility to work from home.... There are more important issues to argue about [emoji56]

Why actually? Do you think the craftsmen will empty the place even though I know their address, cell number, name - everything? Sure, I also don’t leave money on the table. But I’m not afraid that he’ll rummage through our underwear. And if he does, it’s his own fault. :D

Depends entirely... if I know the craftsmen by their first name and they have already done a lot for me, they get a key. Whether through a neighbor or otherwise, for free.

If they are there for the first time or only very rarely, I stay in the home office. Nothing else is an option. For 3 reasons:
- too many confidential things in the home office
- strangers in the house
- only this way the result works :)

That's exactly how it is!
The companies come with a long-standing journeyman and a "new guy." No one can vouch for the latter.
And if something goes missing and you file a theft report, the whole procedure will be questioned... whether the insurance will still pay, I don't know.

A stranger has no business being in our house without me or my husband - period!
