Cracks in the concrete of the ring beam, request for assessment

Good day everyone,

when I was on the construction site again yesterday to check the latest progress, I discovered that there are cracks running across the material in the concrete of the ring beam in several places. My gut feeling tells me that this cannot be good. However, I would very much appreciate your somewhat more informed assessment. How serious is the defect and how would one properly correct it?

Your feeling is correct, this is definitely a structural issue and would worry me greatly! These are not surface cracks but substantial damages judging by their width.

Thank you for the assessment. Yes, the cracks go all the way through, and yes, I am also concerned. Good that I have not yet paid the last invoice.

Doesn't look good at all. Therefore, I agree with Bookstar.

Concrete is strong in compression but not in tension. That is the job of the steel. If the ring beam is subjected to tension (and it probably will be), the concrete can already crack. However, I think that is a bit too many cracks. A structural engineer or a good neutral expert can probably help you with that.
