Hello everyone,

I don’t know if I have placed the post correctly here, but I’ll just write my question:
Our ground floor masonry was built this week. Today we inspected the shell and came across a few small cracks in the interior wall bricks (see photo).

Since I unfortunately have no knowledge about this, my question is:
Is this normal, or can it lead to problems?

Regards,

Michaela

Hello Michaela,

... now my question:
The blue mass between the rows of stones - what is that?

Kind regards

Hm, it does look somehow blue in the photo. But it is actually gray and completely normal mortar.

Hello,

If you say so...

You don't need to worry about the crack in the perforated brick; this can occasionally happen with perforated bricks, as this type of brick is somewhat sensitive during processing. If the crack goes through the entire brick, which I cannot tell, the bricklayer will close it later; otherwise, interior plaster as well as exterior insulation and plaster are sufficient.

Kind regards

Hello,

Thank you very much for your reply! That reassures me

Another question: Is an independent inspector absolutely necessary or advisable for the shell construction acceptance?
And if so: How quickly can one still be hired? Our shell construction will now be finished much earlier than planned and therefore we have not been able to take care of it yet.

Regards,

Michaela
