The next chapter of my kitchen renovation.
My husband vehemently refuses to remove the old tile backsplash from the kitchen.
Glass backsplash is not an option.
Now my idea with tile films, related pictures on the Internet look good.
They are also used in the bathroom, even directly in the shower.
In the kitchen, they are actually less stressed than in a shower.
Does anyone of you have experience with such films? I have now found a manufacturer
who makes the films from the same material as the films for car wraps.
These have to withstand quite a lot as well.
What do you think? Top or flop alternative?
Thanks in advance for your eagerly awaited answers.
Anita

Unfortunately, I don't know much about this myself, but I have seen something like this on TV and the result looked really good. Alternatively, you can also paint over tiles (it's probably a special kind of paint, I think), maybe that would be something for you?

I see fewer problems with the tile backsplash than with your floor: gluing, painting, cleaning... everything is included. And if it doesn't hold, something new will come. Panels are not only available from Ikea (you don't want just any kitchen ;) ), but in any surface like wood, solid colors, textured, smooth, any style can be realized. I would make the foil dependent on the substrate: the more textured the tiles, the more difficult the gluing and adhesion. With thin solid panels, you can work with external construction adhesives.

Ikea panels are not glued at all, but screwed into aluminum frames. A clean job, since the size is standardized; if it doesn’t work anymore, get a new pattern and insert it. Ikea panels are also absolutely atypically cheap for kitchens. The shock of the [HeuteGeschirrspülerontopp] consultants. Karsten

Had some in the second-to-last rental apartment, also in the shower. They lasted without any complaints for 2 years (then we moved out) and until then there was no sign of wear. Got them back then from a provider called "Fliesen-King". I can recommend!
