Hello everyone,
maybe you can help me with tips, ideas or
practical examples.

Current situation: on the property there is a
prefabricated garage 3x6m. On top of it and over an area
of about 3m width to the left of the garage is a gable roof.
The free area to the left of the garage is thus also
covered by the gable roof – so it’s a garage/carport
combination. The gable roof on the carport side is supported
by 3 posts.

The garage is red, the garage door and the visible
wooden parts of the gable roof/carport are white –
chosen to match the house (house red, windows,
downpipes and roof overhangs white).

The plan now is to clad the carport at the back and on one side
(the one side borders the garage).

This should of course look appealing and
not give the impression of a storage shed.

A simple option would of course be
to panel the free areas with tongue and groove boards.

What suggestions would you have?

Thanks and regards...

Hello,

Not a few people swear by carports; their car would never, ever go into a garage

To maintain the effect of good ventilation, I have attached 2 photo examples made of wood as well as one made of stone. The advantage: simple, fast handling and it works great as a trellis for flowers/bushes of all kinds. If it may be something unusual, a calabash arch for the short side would in my opinion be a good alternative.

Kind regards

Hello construction expert,

thank you very much for your contribution.

The thing with the ventilated vehicle is true, but it wasn't decisive.

At least a garage had to be there so that the bicycles or the moped can be locked up in the evening.

Since the whole thing has a somewhat more modern character, I would rather resort to wood or the like, which I can also color-coordinate accordingly and which is straight-lined.

I'm already tired after the first winter of scraping the windows in the morning and clearing the car of snow, while the lady of the house opens the gate and drives away

Regards...

Hello Cascade,

I would consider that if you clad both sides, that creates a great windbreak which could possibly have an influence on the overall stability of the carport. If less than 30% of the wall area is open, the wall is considered closed from a structural perspective. And depending on the location and size, up to 400 kg of wind load can be applied to an exterior wall.
