Cost of converting a flat roof to a balcony

Hello dear ones,

we are in the final planning stages of our future two-story home.

The upper floor is smaller than the ground floor and therefore has 35 m2 of flat roof. Below that is living space on the ground floor.

Now we are considering converting this area into a balcony.
The construction company wants to charge 880 € per m2 for this. So plus 30,800 €.

I am still completely inexperienced, but it seems somewhat overpriced.

That initially sounded like impending full-story status to me. But according to your profile, you are from Brandenburg, where that doesn’t matter. So why the discrepancy in the floor sizes? – see above

Well, that was purely a matter of taste.

The structural requirements for a balcony terrace are substantial and mean that you need a different construction. Plus a surface covering and a railing, and the price doesn't look so high anymore.

we did the same. The planned parapet was simply built up a little, which hardly caused any additional cost. A protective construction mat was then placed on the flat roof covering. That cost an additional 500 euros. I then installed the terrace flooring made of WPC myself.
