Hello everyone,
since quite a few things have already gone wrong with our new building, I would like to ask for advice/info regarding the execution of insulation/sealing between the exterior wall and the base slab.
Construction:
- Frost skirt, on which the base slab is poured
- Inner wall 1st and 2nd course on horizontal barrier
- 16 cm insulation
- Brick veneer
On the internet, I found the attached drawing, which (except for the frost skirt) matches our construction.
The following questions:
1. Is the depicted construction correct or are there better options?
2. A perimeter insulation is installed in front of the end of the base slab – how deep should this be applied? Is it sufficient to reach the bottom edge of the base slab or how deep and what thickness?
3. How and how deep should the end of the base slab be sealed, and what is best to use (sealing slurry, torch-on membrane, etc.)?
Unfortunately, our architect is leaving us "hanging" with these detailed questions.
Thank you to everyone who takes the trouble to read my text and possibly respond.
Best regards
Ralf
