Good day,
I am planning to insulate the top floor ceiling, namely the attic, soon.
The attic is unused and the roof is not insulated, you can see the tiles.
The plan is to lay most of the attic floor with rock wool insulation fleece and in between place a layer of rock wool insulation boards to have a walkable path through the room (e.g. to the chimney for the chimney sweep).
The top floor ceiling has a wooden beam construction and the attic floor is laid with wooden floorboards.
Here, a vapor barrier foil should be installed, and I have a question regarding the connection of this foil at the edge area to the sloping roof.
For this, I took the following picture (the squared timber in front of one beam is not fixed and will be removed):
As you can see in the picture, the floorboards reach up to the roof beams and between the roof beams there is another board set at an angle.
I do not have a beam running perpendicular to the beams of the roof construction along the attic floor that I could simply connect the foil to. I hope it is clear what I mean.
Now to the actual question:
Can I lay the vapor barrier foil (Isover Klimamembran Vario KM Duplex UV) up to the corner of the floorboards and then fasten it at an angle to the beams of the roof construction? Or do I need to cut the foil for each beam and connect it to the edge, i.e. to the aforementioned angled boards, and then connect each beam of the roof construction with an additional piece of foil and Multitape SL to the foil?
Option 1:
Option 2:
Thank you very much for the help
