Good day,

I would be interested to know if the execution of the connection of the garage roof to the house wall by our construction company appears to be okay at first glance. I have read that the connection sheets should actually be embedded in plaster so that they cannot leak behind. The sheets are mounted on the plaster. Unfortunately, I have no further information about the materials used.

I would appreciate your assessments.

The silicone seal at the connection of the capping strip is a maintenance joint. That means if it becomes cracked, water could theoretically get behind it and also behind the EPDM membrane.

With this design, the potential damage prevention responsibility is transferred to the builder (you). It would have been better to have slotted here and to have installed the capping strip behind the plaster or behind the drip edge. I am also just a builder myself but had a similar problem. HOWEVER, the advantage in my case is that due to the recess in the base, a "natural" drip edge exists, making it significantly harder for water to get behind the capping strip.
