I have a retaining wall that I want to build. It is adjacent to an existing garage wall (made of [Kalksandstein]). Between the retaining wall (reinforced concrete) and the garage ([KS]) I will make a 1 cm expansion joint. To prevent transverse displacement, shear anchors are usually installed. Can such anchors also be installed in my case? In other words, can the connection between reinforced concrete and [KS] be executed? Thank you for the answer. See the sketch in the attachment.

For this method of connecting two walls where interlocking is not possible, so-called [Maueranker] are used. These are drilled/doweled into one wall and extend with the other end into the newly to be constructed wall. For a concrete wall, one can also use reinforcing steel rods, but then the joint between the walls must be sealed watertight so that the steel rods do not rust through - or one uses stainless steel rods, which are more expensive but require less material.
